Dr Daniel Judge is a Sleep, Respiratory and General Physician and is joined by a team of sleep technologists and administrative staff, at our private rooms, to provide patients with quality evidence-based medical services.

Dr Judge is a graduate of the University of Queensland and completed his Respiratory and Sleep Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. He undertook fellowship training in Sleep Medicine and Respiratory Failure at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Sydney.

Dr Judge is a clinical researcher in the field of sleep medicine, and is affiliated with the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, and the University of Sydney.

Dr Judge is a Consultant Physician at the Cairns Private Hospital, as well as in Tuberculosis in Cape York and the Torres Strait.

Having worked for several years in Far North Queensland and the Northern Territory, Dr Judge has extensive experience in Indigenous health and the delivery of specialty service in rural and remote settings. Dr Judge is from North Queensland and lives in Cairns with his young family.

Breathe is fortunate to work closely with Dr Kerri Melehan PhD, a senior sleep scientist from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Kerri lectures in the Master of Sleep Medicine course at the University of Sydney.

She is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, an Expert Somnologist Technologist and is the president of the Australasian Sleep Technologist Association.

Dr Eduardo Gaio is a Sleep and Respiratory Physician, who has completed his specialty training in Intensive Care medicine and respiratory medicine at the University of Brasilia, Brazil.

His qualifications include a master’s in sleep medicine from Pablo de Olavide University, Spain, a PhD in medical sciences from the University of Brasilia, and graduation in applied statistics from Swinburne University of Technology.

Dr Gaio has completed post-doctoral studies in the world-renowned Department of Physiology, at the University of California in San Diego; and has supervised post-graduate researchers at the University of Brasilia.

He held an Associate Professor position at the University of Brasilia and a Senior Lecturer position at Deakin University.

Dr Eduardo Gaio has been working at private clinics in Victoria, Australia, as well as at private and public hospitals, since arriving to Australia in 2016.

We are also pleased to welcome Dr Waqas Wahid Baig.  Dr Baig is an overseas-trained physician who graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal—one of the top ten medical schools in India. He subsequently completed specialist training in General Medicine (MD) and gained three years of non-training experience in Nephrology as a consultant.

He later specialised again in General Medicine in Australia, obtaining his FRACP in 2016, and has been working as a physician at Cairns Public Hospital for the past ten years.

Dr Baig’s clinical interests include General Medicine, Nephrology, early chronic kidney disease, CKD related to diabetes, and comprehensive diabetes management, including the management of complications (excluding peripheral vascular disease). 

His areas of expertise also include cardiac failure management, thromboembolic disease management, hypertension, diagnostic neurological problems (such as neuropathies, radiculopathies, and myopathies), as well as the diagnosis and management of infectious conditions, including pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO).

Dr Baig is also fluent in both Hindi and Kashmiri.
